Faces of CTE: Hugo Campos

Hugo is an aspiring engineer, and currently, a Junior at Richmond-Burton High School enrolled in the Project Lead The Way program at Tech Campus. For #CTEMonth, he shared his story and spoke on his experience at Tech so far.

“For my career, I want to be an engineer, and I thought this class would help out for the future,” Hugo said. “I’m glad I did it, because it’s something that really interests me.”

In Project Lead The Way, students are exposed to engineering concepts through two semester-long courses: Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering. Hugo felt that the various labs they went through as well as hands-on experiments helped him to understand the career path a little bit better.

“I’ve learned so many new things that will help out with my future career, and I just really like it,” Hugo said.

Hugo is planning on studying electrical engineering after high school and will be taking an extra math course as a Senior to diversify his education. Even though he won’t be returning to Tech, Hugo felt PLTW was an invaluable experience that will help him later on.

“It has taught me very specific things that engineers do, and it has given me a better background into the specific career in engineering that I want to follow,” Hugo said. “It’s a cool experience, and you learn a ton.”
