Law Enforcement & CSI

Program Description

This program prepares you for careers in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. The class will focus on procedures that are standard to law enforcement and the steps that are necessary to continue into a career in the criminal justice field. The class will also explore crime scene investigations, interview and interrogation methods, and a study of all criminal justice careers. A background check will be required to participate in job shadows and internships.

What will my classes be like?

Have you ever watched CSI or Chicago PD on television and wondered how the crime was solved or why the judge withdrew evidence? You will learn the legal processes starting from the investigation, to the arrest, and the laws behind it all. You will practice police tactical response maneuvers, collecting evidence at a crime scene, defensive tactics, and traffic stops. We have speakers from local, county, state, and federal agencies that come into speak to students about real time experiences in the profession.

Students in this class are eligible to receive 3 college credits from the College of Lake County.

  • CRJ 118 - Introduction to Forensics, 3 credits
  • CRJ 150 - Careers in Criminal Justice, 3 credits
