• Message from the Executive Director

The Tech Campus continues to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the everchanging circumstances surrounding it. To safeguard the health and well-being of all students, staff, and our communities, we have decided to close the Lake County Tech Campus from March 16-20. Our regularly scheduled Spring Break will remain from March 23-27.  This decision was made with an abundance of caution and as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the COVID-19 illness in our communities. The Tech Campus serves as a central hub for many Lake County and McHenry County students, which makes us a potentially high-risk venue for the spreading of the virus.

We are not aware of anyone at the Tech Campus who has been infected or exposed to COVID-19. This is a purely precautionary measure to help safeguard our community.

During the week of March 16-20, the Tech Campus students will be expected to utilize our state-approved alternate educational option (E-learning). Teachers will not institute E-learning the week of March 23 to March 27, which is Spring Break. The Tech Campus will also continue to investigate alternative educational opportunities, including extending E-learning, should school closures become frequent or long-term due to a local COVID-19 outbreak. We are capable of providing E-learning for an extended period, although not our most suitable option, given our hands-on, activity-based instructional environment.

Tech Campus teachers will review the E-learning expectations and procedures with their students on Friday, March 13. Students will receive a message from their instructors regarding the E-learning assignments for each day and the steps necessary to ensure the successful completion of their lessons. If a student does not hear from their instructor, they should email him/her and let them know.

We will continue to assess the situation, especially as we near the end of these two weeks. We hope to resume normal operations on Monday, March 30. The most up to date information can be found on our website www.techcampus.org, under the COVID-19 tab.

In closing, these are some of the most unusual times we have ever seen. We will continue to work closely with appropriate authorities and will continue to share relevant information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for working with us, as we all do our part to prevent the spread of this virus in our community and continue to educate our students.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Clark

    Executive Director
