    What is SkillsUSA?

    SkillsUSA is a nationally recognized organization for trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations students enrolled in public high schools and two-year post-secondary schools. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.


    Where is SkillsUSA?

    SkillsUSA serves more than 320,000 students and instructors annually. These members are organized into more than 13,000 chapters and 54 state and territorial associations. The Lake County High Schools Technology Campus SkillsUSA Chapter is a member of the National and Illinois Associations of SkillsUSA. It is the most recognized and successful chapter in Illinois. We have held the title of State Champions for the past seventeen years!


    What is the purpose of SkillsUSA?

    SkillsUSA prepares America's high performance workers and provides quality educational experiences for students in leadership and skill activities, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. SkillsUSA brings together students and their instructors as well as representatives from business and industry who share common interest and exchange ideas. SkillsUSA offers many opportunities to acheive as an individual and as a member of a team.

    SkillsUSA members gain that competitive edge necessary for the workforce after participating in SkillsUSA activities; especially when competing in local, regional, state, and/or national skills and leadership competitions. These competitions encourage excellence in individual and team performance and provide a vehicle to motivate and inspire students to be the best they can be. SkillsUSA prepares students for a highly competitive and demanding workforce.


    What is the purpose of SkillsUSA?

    To become a member, you must complete an application form and be recommended by your Tech Campus instructor. There is a membership fee which includes state and national dues, and if necessary, a qualifying test(s) to compete at the state competition.
