Program Description:
This program provides an understanding of the photography and digital imaging industry. Students will receive extensive training in traditional black and white photography which includes taking, developing, and printing black and white photographs. Digital photography, portrait photography, and advertising photography skills are also taught as part of the program. Study will also place a major emphasis on digital imaging using the program Adobe® Photoshop™. Internships are available with local business partners.
Academic Link:
Students will use art, chemistry, math, computer, and communication skills.
Labor Market Information:
Employment in the photography field is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations through the year 2010. Talented photographers who have developed a mastery of artistic techniques and computer skills will be in high demand. Starting salaries range from $7.46 - $34.76 an hour.
